As an undergraduate at California State University Sacramento, Susan majored in Philosophy with a concentration in Ethics and Law, focusing on courses that would give her a solid foundation for arguing in court and in the legal field. Susan graduated Cum Laude and was on the Dean's List.

Following her graduation from California State University, Sacramento, Susan attended Lincoln Law School of Sacramento. It was there that she developed her love for the courtroom, she served on a Mock Trial Team as well as won an award for her knowledge and skills in the school’s Trial Advocacy program.

Susan also worked for the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. During her time at the D.A.'s office, Susan handled thousands of arraignments and also argued trials and motions before the court. This allowed her to gain valuable insight into what it takes for a case to be charged and brought to trial. As a result, she understands the criminal process from the D.A.'s perspective. This helps her to identify potential weaknesses in the evidence brought against her clients. She utilizes this knowledge to aggressively defend her clients rights. This experience gave Susan the desire to go into private practice and to defend her clients with rigor while always striving to see the best results for her clients.

After law school Susan went into private practice to assist individuals with bankruptcy during the down turn in the economy. She gained valuable experience working in two busy bankruptcy firms in Sacramento including working at CoBen & Associates. She has handled consumer and business Chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 bankruptcy cases from commencement to conclusion. Ms. Dodds has also represented creditors through all stages of the parent bankruptcy cases in addition to adversary proceedings. She has litigated many issues at trial in the Bankruptcy Court for both debtors and creditors including defending thousands of motions and defending her clients in evidentiary hearings as well as adversary proceedings. Susan was also a guest speaker for the Sacramento County Bar Bankruptcy & Commercial Law Section.

Susan's background in the Bankruptcy Court gave her significant experience litigating various issues as well as aggressively defending thousands of clients. She utilizes this experience in her firm by aiming for excellence in every aspect.

Susan makes it her priority to help her clients feel comfortable as they navigate their legal matters, and works hard to obtain the best results in each case while keeping her clients informed each step along the way.

In her spare time, Susan loves to spend time with her family and friends, read, travel, hike, camp and practice yoga.
